How to choose your seat on a private airplane
Unlike commercial flights, on a private airplane you have the freedom to choose where to sit. But not all seats are equal — each position has advantages depending on your preferences.
Typical layout by aircraft
Cessna 206 (5 seats)
- Co-pilot: the best view, next to the pilot
- Row 2 (2 seats): good balance between view and space
- Row 3 (2 seats): more legroom, less lateral visibility
Piper Azteca (5 seats)
- Co-pilot: 180° panoramic view
- Row 2: the most comfortable seats, wide windows
- Row 3: reduced space, ideal for lighter passengers
Cessna Grand Caravan (12 seats)
- Co-pilot: the premium experience
- Front rows: less engine noise, better visibility
- Back rows: more space, but more vibration
King Air (6–9 seats)
- Club seating (facing seats): perfect for in-flight meetings
- Individual seats: window side with fold-down table
- Pressurized: smoother flight at higher altitude
Tips based on your priority
| If you want... | Choose... |
|----------------|-----------|
| Best view | Co-pilot seat |
| Less turbulence | Center seats (over the wings) |
| More space | Back row in Cessna/Piper |
| Photos/video | Right-side window (coastal views en route to Contadora) |
| Conversation | Club seating in King Air |
Can you request the co-pilot seat?
Yes. At Sky Ride, if weight and balance permit, you can request to sit next to the pilot. It's the most exciting experience on a private flight.
